Thornbridge Ice Cream Float

Remember when a treat was an ice-cream float on a hot day? Well, here’s hoping that the May Bank Holidays will bring us some welcome sunshine and a taste of the summer to come. Here is an ice-cream float that will get your taste buds zinging. Forget the days of lemonade or cola with a dollop of vanilla; this beer treat comes with a whole range of flavour possibilities with the Thornbridge range of fruit beers.

 

Here’s one recipe to get you going and we have chosen the Thornbridge 

Fresa to get you started. Once you have tried this out, you will have 

fabulous fun exploring the other flavours and the extraordinary range 

of ice-creams out there.

 

Ingredients​​

  1. 1 tub of Strawberry Vanilla Ice-cream

  2. 4 bottles of  Thornbridge Fresa

  3. Small bar of good quality milk chocolate

  4. Handful of strawberries

  5. 4 recyclable straws

Directions

  1. You will need 4 tall glasses.

  2. Chill the chocolate over night. An hour before you make the floats, shave the chocolate with a vegetable peeler and then put back into the fridge until you are ready to serve the drinks.

  3. Ensure that the beer has been chilled for at least 4 hours - you don’t want the ice-cream to melt too quickly.

  4. Fill the glasses 2/3 full.

  5. Add two generous scoops of ice-cream to each glass. 

  6. Sprinkle the tops with the shaved chocolate and garnish with a strawberry.

  7. Serve with the straws, spoons and the rest of the beer for everyone to top up as required.
