In most marathons runners clutching water bottles is a common images, but in Scotland, whiskey is so much a part of the culture that runners will pound the streets for miles for a wee dram. Whiskey fans can now sign up for the third annual Dramathon. This unique race goes along the Speyside Way in Aberdeenshire, which is home to many of the world’s most famous and well respected distilleries. Runners start at Glenfarclas distillery and end up at Glenfiddich distillery, via many other distilleries. There are miniatures available on route. Don’t panic if you are tempted, but worried about the distance; runners have three options - the ‘full dram’ , a half marathon and 10k. Depending on how far the competitor runs, they will receive varying amounts of drams. In 2018, there were 1500 racers - watch this space for news of how the race goes later in the year.
